Community Education Program Schedule


Here is the schedule for our 2018-19 Community Programs. All shows run from 7:30-8:30 pm unless otherwise noted, and include an opportunity to view the sky through our telescopes(weather permitting). In order to be guaranteed a spot, you need to register for each class through the Office of Community and School Engagement located at the Educational Services Center or by clicking here: http://www.northpenncep.org. The registration fee is $10 for adults and $8 for students. Gold Card Members are free but still must register as seating is limited in the planetarium. You may also pay at the door, but you will only be admitted if there open seats, so it is encouraged to register ahead of time. When paying at the door please have exact change.

September 23, 2019: Celestial Highlights of the Fall Sky:

 Is that a star or a planet? Not sure? Come to the North Penn Planetarium to find out! Join us as we learn about the winged horse of Pegasus, the beautiful princess Andromeda, and other Fall Sky constellations. We will also learn how to find the most distant object your eyes can see, the Andromeda Galaxy!! (Telescope viewing follows, weather permitting)

October 21, 2019: Telescope 101: Looking to buy a new telescope?

Want to dust off that telescope you have sitting in the closet? Bring your telescope and join us as we discover all that it can show us. (Weather permitting we will spend time outside calibrating and using our telescopes.)

November 18, 2019: Spaceship North Penn: Ever wanted to take a trip to outer space?

Now you can as we turn our planetarium into North Penn’s very own spaceship! Come take a ride with us as we explore our solar system and unravel its secrets! (Telescope viewing and Stargazing follows, weather permitting)

December 16, 2019: Celestial Highlights of the Winter Sky: Is that a star or a planet? Not sure?

Come to the North Penn Planetarium to find out! Join us as we discover the secrets of Orion the Hunter and The Orion Nebula, as well as other sights in out Winter Sky. (Telescope viewing follows, weather permitting)

January 13, 2020: The Zodiac: Is it Astrology or Astronomy?!?! Am I Sagittarius or Aquarius? Not sure?

Join us as we delve into the early roots of the science of looking into the stars and discover the Zodiac Constellations in the sky! (Telescope viewing follows, weather permitting)

February 10, 2020: The North Star: How did ancient sailors sail across the oceans without the use of a GPS unit and radar?

By using the stars of course! Join us as we discover one of the most useful stars in the sky and learn how to use it to find our way around the planet we call Earth (Telescope viewing and Stargazing follows, weather permitting)

March 16, 2020: Celestial Highlights of the Spring Sky: Is that a star or a planet? Not sure?

Come to the North Penn Planetarium to find out! Join us as we learn how Leo the Lion roars through our Spring Sky. We will also discover many other Spring constellations and deep-sky objects. (Telescope viewing follows, weather permitting)

May 18, 2020: Celestial Highlights of the Summer Sky: Is that a star or a planet? Not sure?

Come to the North Penn Planetarium to find out! Join us as we discover how to find our Milky Way and the many wonders it holds. We will also learn how to find the Summer Triangle and Scorpius the Scorpion. (Telescope viewing follows, weather permitting)
