School Messenger FAQ

How School Messenger Works

School Messenger Parent Notification System

Providing up-to-the-minute accurate information in emergency situations is extremely important. NPSD uses a software program called “School Messenger” to send messages to specified telephone numbers of your choice within a matter of minutes.

Examples of when School Messenger is used include school closings due to power outages, security threats, or early dismissals in the case of bad weather.

NPSD will continue to use NPTV, www.npenn.org and local media outlets for public communication.

It is important that you make sure your contact information is up-to-date and accurate by notifying your school office when changes are made. This will enable the district to disseminate information to all of its families and staff members in the most time efficient manner possible.

All phone number updates must be completed through Infinite Campus. All information is uploaded to School Messenger every night directly from Infinite Campus. It may take 24 hours until the update from Infinite Campus is shown in School Messenger.

If you want to select specific phone numbers or email address for non-emergency calls, you can manage those notifications through School Messenger's site

go.schoolmessenger.com.

Create an account with an email address you have on file with us in Infinite Campus to manage your delivery preferences.  Here you can manage contact preferences, submit an absence and receive notifications.

If you would like to Opt-in to receive text messages, you can opt-in at any time following the process below:

Simply text any one of the following words to the number 67587: subscribe, optin, yes

You" ll know you were successful if you receive the following reply message:

You are registered to receive approx 3 msgs/mo. Txt STOP to quit, HELP for help.

You" ll want to repeat the opt-in process for any wireless numbers that you want to include that are also listed in Infinite Campus.

In addition to performing the opt-in process above, you" ll want to ensure that the district has your wireless number(s) in Infinite Campus.

Please note, although the district does not charge you for this service, it does not pay for text message charges that may be incurred by you for sending or receiving text messages. Check with your wireless carrier for possible charges.

If that does not work, you can download the School Messenger app and create an account with an email address you have on file with Infinite Campus to manage your delivery preferences.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Coordinator of Communication Media, Bob Gillmer, at [email protected].

When making emergency calls, such as an early dismissal or security threats, we will call ALL numbers that you have provided in our student database. For general announcements, attendance calls, etc., by default we will use your primary phone number and email address. By creating an account with InfoCenter, you can choose where attendance calls and general announcement calls go. To change or add phone numbers, you will need to make those changes in Infinite Campus.
