Dr. Jamar Alston is a 1999 graduate of West Chester East High School. In reference to college, Dr. Alston earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Philosophy with social studies certification from West Chester University in 2004, followed by a Masters of Arts degree in History in 2007. In 2011, he obtained a Master of Education with distinction and his principal certification from Cabrini College. Dr. Alston later completed his Doctorate of Education from Neumann University in 2018.

Dr. Alston brings more than 20 years experience in education to North Penn High School. He began his career as a special education teacher in the Chester Upland School District and subsequently served as a social studies teacher at Graystone Academy Charter School. He then spent 14 years with the Upper Darby School District, teaching social studies, science, tutor, cyber, and alternative education. In 2019, Dr. Alston was appointed Assistant Principal at Kings Highway Elementary School, and the following school year served as an Assistant Principal at Coatesville Intermediate High School before joining North Penn High School in February 2026.

A dedicated servant leader, Dr. Alston is committed to fostering strong and positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the broader school community. Dr. Alston resides with his wife, Farah and their three children- Jayden, Amaya, and Chase. In his free time, he enjoys watching television, particularly Philadelphia sports, boxing, mysteries, dramas and comedies, as well as traveling, weight training, exploring new restaurants, dancing, decorating, creating meaningful experiences for others, and spending quality time with his family.
